Philosophy
Spaces for Exploration’s philosophy is rooted in the belief that sound, music, and creative expression are powerful tools for healing, connection, and transformation. We honor the whole person, mind, body, and spirit, by blending evidence-based music therapy with holistic healing arts to support emotional well-being, resilience, and personal growth in a compassionate, client-centered space.

Counseling
Spaces for Exploration’s counseling service is a supportive approach that draws from multiple modalities to promote emotional expression, mental health, and overall well-being. Through thoughtful discussion with the client to determine the best treatment approach, clients are able to process emotions, reduce stress, improve coping skills, address challenging life situations, and strengthen communication in a safe therapeutic environment. Modalities include evidence-based music experiences such as listening, songwriting, and improvisation, Jungian-informed dream work, and techniques based on cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT).
Therapeutic Sound
At Spaces for Exploration, therapeutic sound sessions use sound and vibration to promote deep relaxation, emotional balance, and overall wellness. Through techniques such as sound baths, tuning forks, and frequency-based practices, clients are supported in reducing stress, calming the nervous system, and restoring a sense of harmony in a soothing, non-invasive setting.
Reiki
Reiki is a gentle, holistic energy practice that supports relaxation, stress reduction, and overall well-being. Through light touch or hands placed just above the body, Reiki helps encourage balance within the mind, body, and spirit, creating a calming experience that supports the body’s natural healing processes.
Grief, Loss, Mourning, and Caregiving
Loss occurs on many different levels. Individual and group sessions are available to assist in navigating the emotional impact of losing a loved one or experiencing significant life changes. Through a safe, empathetic space, clients are guided in processing emotions, honoring their experiences, and developing healthy coping strategies as they move toward healing at their own pace. Specialized groups, such as death of a spouse, death of a parent, or caregiver groups, are available.
Palliative and Hospice Music Therapy
For those experiencing debilitating physical conditions or those who have received a terminal diagnosis, music therapy may provide pain relief, anxiety reduction, emotional and spiritual expression, and improve overall quality of life for patients and their families. Music experiences are personalized for each patient. No music experience is necessary.
